Live View ของ 450D
เป็นครั้งแรกของกล้องระดับ Consumer D-SLR ของแคนนอน ที่ใส่ฟังก์ชั่น Live View มาให้กับ Canon 450D ด้วย เพื่อให้สามารถมองภาพในระหว่างถ่ายได้เหมือนกล้องคอมแพค มีประโยชน์เวลาถ่ายมุมต่างๆ เช่น ก้ม เงย และเวลาวางกล้องกับขาตั้งกล้อง ความไวของ Live View อยู่ที่ 30fps แสดงผลบนจอ LCD ขนาด 3” ที่สำคัญคือ แก้ปัญหาความสว่างที่เคยมีใน 400D โดยมีความสว่างของจอเพิ่มขึ้น 50% สามารถแสดง grid line และ live histogram ได้ นอกจากนั้นยังสามารถซูมขยายภาพได้สูงสุด 10X เพื่อดูรายละเอียดสำหรับการโฟกัสที่แม่นยำ

ส่วนอื่นๆ ที่มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงก็เช่น

450D มีการปรับปรุงเรื่องการออกแบบส่วนมือจับ (Grip) ให้ถนัดมือมากขึ้น
ระบบเมนูยังเป็นแบบเดิม แต่สามารถปรับรูปแบบและสีเองได้
เพิ่มระบบวัดแสงแบบ spot metering 4%
การแสดงผลบนหน้าจอใน view finder มีข้อมูลครบถ้วนมากขึ้น เช่น ค่า ISO
เปลี่ยนจาก Compact Flash (CF Card) เป็น Secure Digital Card (SD Card)
ใช้แบตเตอรี่รุ่นใหม่ จากข้อมูลอ้างว่าสามารถถ่ายได้ประมาณ 500 ภาพต่อการชาร์จ 1 ครั้ง

การเปลี่ยนแปลงอีกอย่างก็คือ 450D จะมาในชุด Kit พร้อมเลนส์ EF-S 18-55mm F/3.5-5.6 IS ที่มีระบบกันสั่นมาเลย เหมือนกับ 400D ล็อตหลังๆในปัจจุบันนี้
